Investigative sciences. Form of a nasturtium flower.

She had thorough knowledge of all the chemicals in Kinzo's study and had used them to conduct a scientific investigation. "This isn't a science mystery, so I'll spare you the details."

Battle! vs. towers! vs. shotguns! vs Beatrice on the bow of a pirate ship full of goats! [EP8] Form of chocolate lips wrapped in red foil. Remove the foil to view.

Dust to dust, illusions to illusions!! I'll end your daydream for you! Come, try and remember, ghosts! Remember how you died so long agooooooooooooo!! )

Red truth. Form of a knotted piece of twine. Untie/cut it.

Cf. blue truth. Words spoken in red are absolutely true, with no need for explanation or proof.

Compliments from Lambda, and offers to work with Battler. :) "Together, let's tear this Illusion of the Witch apart." [EP5] Form of a loaf of bread. One use.

I just stole this memory from Lambda and I am lazy so I will just link to her writeup.

Meta scythe and battle skills. Form of a shot glass full of water.
This time, Erika stepped forward.
......In her hand, there appeared a sickle like one a god of death might hold.
A ruthless sickle for reaping everything that threatened her theory...!
In argument-battles in the meta world Erika uses a scythe. It is a scythe made of truth (both red and blue). She summons it out of nowhere and it can basically do whatever would be coolest with it, such as cutting down a huge herd of goat demons with one sweep, deflecting bullets, etc.

HOWEVER, since it's not really a physical weapon so much as a... logical device... the way I will play this is that it only works in fights or against opponents that are in some sense metaphorical. So if an argument came to physical blows to see who was right maybe it would work. Or against darkness monsters that are somehow embodiments of deception/insecurity/etc.! I will work this out on a case-by-case basis.

It also only works for blue truth right now because she still doesn't have her red truth skill yet.

English. Form of a bay leaf. Eat the whole thing.

Unlike SOME PEOPLE (coughBattlercough) she's probably fluent. Mostly she just uses a few words for effect, though. <Good>.

Detective proclamation. Form of a slice of bread.

This is an extremely meta Umineko skill and therefore requires a somewhat complicated writeup.

Those words, which seemed to be utterly ridiculous at first, were words of power which had come from a world on a much higher plane than the one they were in. )

...Functionally I don't expect this skill to be usable pretty much ever. But it could happen.

Sealing Kumasawa and Gohda's rooms in the guesthouse. [EP5] Form of a miniature goblet, with a slightly less miniature glass vial. Fill the goblet and drink. 2/3 drinks remaining.

Where there is a detective, there will be a crime. I foresaw that some kind of crime would take place, so I used this to seal away people whose alibis might otherwise be lost. )

Solving the epitaph with Battler. [EP5] Form of a small hand mirror with a dark gray casing. 6/7 views remaining.

I'm only looking for the gold because I want proof that my reasoning was correct. Even if I found it, I wouldn't pocket it for myself, so don't worry. )

Watching the lovers' trials. Yawn. [EP6] Form of a palm sized teddy bear. Give it a squeeze to get your memory. 1/2 uses remaining.

I'm too lazy for this )

--

Eidetic memory. Form of a nice ripe pear.

Erika has a photographic memory. And her hearing ability is on par with a tape recorder.

SIMPLE ENOUGH.

Encyclopedic knowledge of puzzles and trivia. Form of a twig with a small blueberry on it.

Representative script excerpt )

Erika is naturally good at puzzles to start with, but she also is familiar with a huge catalog of standard puzzles and logical trivia to the point that she doesn't even have to work them out! Practically, this skill gives me permission to google things and assume Erika knows them.

Skill 6

Dramatic costume change. Form of a tiny Jolly Roger (wave it).

Erika threw off her wedding dress as though it was a cape...... And she was somehow in her normal outfit and not naked.

This is the most useful skill.
thinkoutsidethebox: (m60)
Setup for the 6th game: waiting for payback; meeting chick-Beatrice. [EP6] Form of a small vial of water with a Jasper ribbon wrapped around it. Not shareable.

In other words, if Erika could crush this game of Battler's, she would, in effect, wipe away the dishonor of that last game. )

Skill 5: Chopsticks!!! Form of a big, juicy, perfectly ripe blackberry.

Chopsticks are the best utensil and Erika is the best at them.

Manners & acting. Form of a small chocolate truffle.

Relevant excerpts )

Includes specific manners, knowing what utensil to use, how to introduce herself, and generally how to act in a high-class setting, as well as a more general ability to act like she's a kind and well-meaning person and deceive people into thinking however she wants them to!

Skill 3

Aug. 2nd, 2012 07:01 pm
thinkoutsidethebox: (m3)
Encyclopedic knowledge of the mystery genre. Form of a ripe peach.

As evidenced by her most recent memory, Erika has read a lot of mystery novels and is very proud of it! Both classic western novels and Japanese detective fiction. She will now be able to cite things from them from memory. This skill also includes meta knowledge of the genre, such as Knox's Decalogue (wikipedia) and Van Dine's Commandments (full)! And other general observations. She will not hesitate to cite these in conversation, much to other people's confusion I am sure.

SHE WILL NOW HAVE A MUCH BETTER IDEA OF WHAT SHE MEANS WHEN SHE SAYS "I'm the detective." Isn't everyone happy!!

Skill 2

Jun. 30th, 2012 12:57 pm
thinkoutsidethebox: (m43)
Blue truth. Form of two pieces of interlocking wood.

Not truth in the same sense as red truth, which is absolutely true.
The blue is used to proclaim a theory for the opponent to deny. They are then burdened with the responsibility of denying that in red, and if they do not, it becomes your victory.
See Erika's most recent memory for a pretty clear example of how this works.

Duct tape seals. Form of a tiny C-shaped breakfast marshmallow.

Letting Erika get her hands on duct tape gave her a fatal weapon to use against witches.

As this memory, only the skill version. Also includes a bizarrely accurate sense of when to use them.
