Skill 13

Red truth. Form of a knotted piece of twine. Untie/cut it.

Cf. blue truth. Words spoken in red are absolutely true, with no need for explanation or proof.

Red truth is only usable by witches, and Erika covets it and eventually can use it once she's given the title of Witch of Truth. However, she uses it much less often in canon than, for example, Beatrice.

In general, the red truth is only used in a situation where the person speaking is "the one who knows the truth," i.e., they are in full control of the truth or falseness of the statement. Trying to say something in red you think is true to test if it works, or saying something you believe is true to try to convince someone else, etc., isn't really in the spirit of the red truth. There are exceptions! But in general that's the case.

So, in canon the Game Master (Beatrice, or later Lambda, Bernkastel or Battler) can use red truth about almost anything, but other people's usage is much more limited - they can only use it about situations they are in control of (e.g. Erika can set up her own teacup "magic trick", and then speak in red about what she did), or in situations where the Game Master has approved the usage (e.g. Dlanor and later Erika can use the red truth about Erika's duct tape seals because the Game Master has granted that they're impossible to circumvent).

In Aather! Her use of the red truth is similarly limited. She can only really use it when she's talking about something she can really fully know the truth of. No speculation or arguments, only facts.

As for whether you can tell it's red, or that she's doing something weird: Up to you to a certain extent! You can certainly tell it's red or not as you feel comfortable with. Unlike the blue truth, though, which people don't remark on her using in the real world, the red truth has an obvious supernatural force, which is difficult to argue with and can occasionally feel like a physical blow.

This skill also adds red to her meta scythe.
